Yaxel Lendeborg’s Dunk Goes Viral, But Rookie Struggles in Loss to Lakers

Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg became the talk of social media on Thursday when a video of him posterizing his girlfriend, Tacarra, during a casual one‑on‑one game was posted by clothing brand Dub5 Apparel. The 6‑9 forward’s highlight‑reel dunk, shared on Instagram, quickly drew millions of views and sparked a wave of memes across the league.

The Dunk That Broke the Internet

In the clip, Lendeborg and Tacarra are seen playing a friendly game of one‑on‑one in a driveway. The rookie, who has been known to practice with his girlfriend, took advantage of a mismatch and threw down a thunderous dunk that left her momentarily speechless. The moment was both playful and merciless, and Dub5 Apparel captioned it with a series of laughing emojis, noting that the couple often hoops together while wearing their brand.

A Rough Night on the Court

Despite the viral success of the dunk, Lendeborg’s night on the hardwood was far less impressive. In Friday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers, the rookie logged a career‑low six points and posted a minus‑20 plus‑minus rating. The Warriors, however, did not require a strong outing from him to secure a 112‑95 victory, but the performance underscored the challenges he faces as a first‑year player.

Why Lendeborg Is Crucial for Golden State

Through the first six games of the season, Lendeborg has already proven to be one of the most valuable members of the Warriors’ roster. His ability to space the floor and defend multiple positions has earned him consistent minutes, and the team knows that his development will be key if they hope to make a deep run in the Western Conference. As his confidence grows, the rookie’s impact is expected to rise, and the organization is counting on him to become a cornerstone for years to come.

While the dunk may have been the most memorable moment of his week, Lendeborg’s focus now shifts to translating that energy into consistent on‑court production. The Warriors will need him to deliver when the stakes are highest, and the league will be watching to see if he can turn viral fame into lasting success.
