Tracker Shifts Production From Vancouver to Los Angeles

Tracker filmed its first three seasons in Vancouver, Canada, but Season 4 marks a major change. The production has officially relocated to Los Angeles after securing a $48 million tax incentive from California. Hartley addressed the move in a statement shared through Deadline, expressing pride in what the team built in Vancouver while welcoming the fresh opportunities that Southern California locations provide.

“I’m proud of what we built in Vancouver. I’m also very excited we’re bringing Tracker to L.A. I’m looking forward to continuing to tell these stories alongside the new, fresh places we’ll be heading to next. Most importantly, I want to thank the fans for showing up for us every step of the way. We couldn’t do this without you,” Hartley said.

Who Is Returning to Tracker for Season 4?

CBS has confirmed several cast members for the fourth season, while others are unlikely to appear. Hartley remains the center of the series, telling Deadline that he loves playing Colter Shaw and wants to keep the show fresh without making drastic changes to the formula that viewers have embraced.

Justin Hartley Returns as Colter Shaw

There is no Tracker without Justin Hartley. The actor stars as the titular tracker and remains the show’s anchor. Discussing his hopes for Season 4 with Deadline, Hartley described Shaw as ever-evolving and said the goal is to continue the character’s growth while preserving the comfort and familiarity that fans enjoy.

“I think he just has such an interesting life. I really love this character, and I think there’s so much more to do with him. I get the luxury of being him on camera and dealing with this character every day…He is ever evolving, and it’s such a cool thing to watch. He’s a grown man, but you kind of see him growing up in his adulthood. So we’ll just continue that through Season 4. We’re not going to make any huge, big changes, because I think people really like the show, and they find comfort in that. But we certainly have to keep it fresh,” Hartley said.

Fiona Rene, Chris Lee, and Cassady McClincy Zhang Are Back

Fiona Rene is one of the two remaining original cast members, starring as Reenie, and she is confirmed to return for Season 4. Chris Lee joined the cast as Randy, a computer scientist and tech expert, in Season 2 before being promoted to series regular for Season 3; he is officially back for the fourth season. Cassady McClincy Zhang, who joined during Season 3 as Mel, is also confirmed to return.

Sofia Pernas and Jensen Ackles Return for Season 4

Sofia Pernas, Hartley’s real-life wife, plays Billie Matalon, Colter’s love interest and a rival rewardist. She has appeared across multiple seasons, and Hartley told TVInsider that she will return as Billie, noting that recurring characters who pop in for meaningful moments are part of the show’s appeal.

Cast Members Not Expected to Return for Season 4

Not every familiar face is coming back. Eric Graise, who played Bobby, has not appeared since Season 2 and is unlikely to return for Season 4 barring major changes. Abby McEnany, who played Velma Bruin, has also been absent since Season 2 and is not expected back in a full-time capacity. Robin Weigert, who played Teddi, departed after Season 1.

What Comes Next for Tracker on CBS

As Tracker enters Season 4, the series is balancing continuity with change. The relocation to Los Angeles gives the production new visual territory, while the returning core cast preserves the comfort and familiarity Hartley says audiences value. With Jensen Ackles back for the November 1 episode and Hartley promising more of Colter Shaw’s evolving journey, Season 4 is positioned to build on the show’s established formula while exploring fresh stories in a new setting.
