Diddy’s Request for Trump’s Help Resurfaces in Mike Tyson Interview
In a recent appearance on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show Radio Andy, former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson disclosed that incarcerated music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs had asked him to deliver a letter to President Donald Trump. The revelation adds a new layer to the ongoing legal saga surrounding Combs, who is currently serving a federal sentence related to prostitution‑charges.
Tyson Reveals Diddy’s Plea for a Presidential Letter
During the interview, Tyson told Cohen, “Yeah, I’m friendly with Puff. I was surprised that they went through so many lengths to get him. They used a 110‑year‑old rule to get him. That case 110 years ago, but they used it to get him. Can you imagine that? They took a 110‑year‑old case to get him a couple of months, a couple of years ago.”
When asked whether he had been in touch with Combs since the latter’s imprisonment, Tyson replied, “Well, I spoke with him once on the phone, yes. He wanted me to give a letter to the president.” Cohen then pressed, “And did you give a letter to the president from him?” Tyson answered, “I did what he told me to do, yes.”
The 110‑Year‑Old Mann Act Cited in the Case
The “110‑year‑old rule” Tyson referenced is the Mann Act of 1910, formally known as the White‑Slave Traffic Act, which prohibits the interstate transport of individuals for prostitution or other immoral purposes. Federal prosecutors have invoked this century‑old statute in the case against Combs, alleging violations related to prostitution‑related charges.
Trump’s Past Response to Diddy’s Pardon Appeal
This is not the first time Combs has sought presidential clemency. Earlier in 2024, during an interview with The New York Times, Trump said that the embattled mogul had requested a pardon via a handwritten letter. Trump later told Newsmax that granting such a pardon might be “difficult” because Combs had publicly criticized him during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Current Legal Status and Projected Release Date
As of September 2025, Sean “Diddy” Combs remains in federal custody serving a 50‑month sentence. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, his projected release date is March 8, 2028, barring any further legal developments or clemency actions. No pardon or commutation has been granted to date.
