Saturday Night Live Season 52 Adds Druski and John Mulaney to Host Lineup
Saturday Night Live is continuing its Season 52 rollout with a new batch of hosts and musical guests, blending internet-native talent with established stand-up performers and film stars. NBC recently revealed that comedian Druski will headline the November 7 episode, making him the first-ever digital content creator to serve as the sole host of the long-running late-night sketch series. The following week, John Mulaney returns to Studio 8H for a seventh time as host, adding to his status as one of the show’s most frequent alumni hosts.
Druski Becomes First Digital Content Creator to Host “SNL”
Druski’s episode, airing Nov. 7, will feature The Strokes as musical guest. It marks the band’s fifth time in that role and arrives as they tour behind their album “Reality Awaits.” The hosting gig comes just ahead of the December release of Druski’s scripted Netflix series, “Collect and Praise,” further underscoring the crossover between digital comedy and traditional late-night television.
John Mulaney Returns for Seventh “SNL” Hosting Stint
John Mulaney will host the Nov. 14 episode. The comedian has now hosted “SNL” seven times after serving as a writer on the show for four seasons from 2008 to 2012. While he remains well behind Alec Baldwin’s all-time record of 17 hosting appearances, Mulaney ranks among the series’ most frequent hosts of all time. He is currently promoting the Amazon Prime Video film “Madden” and touring with his stand-up show “Mister Whatever.”
Phoebe Bridgers will perform during Mulaney’s episode, marking her third appearance as musical guest. She made her “SNL” debut in 2021 and previously returned alongside Boygenius collaborators Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. Bridgers is currently on tour promoting her recent album, “Lost Weekend.”
Halloween Episode Headed by Inde Navarette and Gracie Abrams
Earlier announcements confirmed that the Season 52 Halloween episode will be headlined by “Obsession” star Inde Navarette, with Gracie Abrams serving as musical guest.
Season 52’s Opening Weeks and Shane Gillis Controversy
Season 52 premiered Sept. 26 with New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson as host and K-pop group Katseye as musical guest. Dakota Johnson hosted the following episode, which featured a cameo from Taylor Swift, and was joined by Turnstile. On Oct. 10, Shane Gillis hosted for the third time; his monologue sparked immediate controversy over a joke about women’s gym attire, and he also used an expletive during a sketch.
Taken together, the Season 52 lineup illustrates “SNL”’s ongoing effort to balance legacy hosts with emerging voices from streaming, social media, and music. With Druski breaking new ground as a digital creator and Mulaney returning as a familiar alumni favorite, the show appears to be courting both younger online audiences and its long-established fan base as it moves deeper into its current season.
